Libra Begins the Soul Year
I Choose the Way Which Leads Between the Two Great Lines of Force
During Libra a very important state of spiritual awareness takes place wherein the personality first becomes aware of the presence of the Soul. Due to this recognition of the Soul by the personality, Libra, at Autumn Equinox, is esoterically the sign that begins the Soul Year. Why and how is this?
During the months and signs of Aries through Virgo, the personality grows in strength (through sensory experiences) while the presence and power of the onlooking Soul is quiescent (quiet). During Libra the personality ceases its experiences of gathering activities related to form and matter, and begins to be aware not only of itself but of the Soul as well. Both the personality and the Soul stand within their own domains (the personality working within form and the Soul working within the mind), both are equal within their own realms, and both gaze at each other in rather startled wonder. Called an interlude, this awareness is what creates the balance point (or seeking of balance) referred to in the sign and month of Libra. Continuing with our months and signs around the zodiac, it is from Libra through Pisces, that the Soul gathers strength and assumes greater and greater power, direction and guidance over the personality. In Libra we also seek to make balanced and harmonious choices. In Scorpio we re-orient our lives based upon those choices.
Astrology, the zodiac, the signs and planets that affect our daily lives are esoterically the story of the personality as it relates to the Soul and the Soul as it directs the personality. Our senses are also involved in this process. From Aries through Virgo (we are in Libra now), the senses were the mode (vehicle) through which the personality experienced form. The Soul, in its realm, received the impressions gathered by the senses.
But in Libra a reorientation begins to take place. The Soul begins to gather all the information from the senses and eventually synthesizes this information for the purpose of understanding how to direct the personality. Then the Soul enters into a level of meditation called contemplation. The Soul contemplates form and matter and how the personality functioning within them. It also contemplates how it will introduce and then proceed with its directorial duties, for form and matter are not the natural realm of the Soul. The Soul is Light.
The Soul, which is Light, exists in the higher mental realms. Therefore, it is from that mentally polarized point that the contemplation of the Soul occurs. Note that in the five stages of Meditation (each stage represented by a sign), the 3rd stage is called "contemplation," which is the activity of the Soul during Libra. Our task, therefore, during Libra is also contemplation.
At a later stage, after the mind gathers and synthesizes the five senses, the Soul contemplates (a Soul activity, detached from the mind, which is in a state of quiet or quiescence) the sensory information, and begins to receive information (Light) from the Spiritual realms. The Soul then, being aware of both the higher and lower dimensions (Spirit and matter), begins to radiate the Spiritual information into the mind. The mind, thus irradiated swings its attention to form. We, the carriers of this mechanism of Light unfolding (we become a radiance), then irradiate form and matter through our thoughts, words, actions, intentions and our touch. In this way, all of matter becomes redeemed through our radiations (filled with light). We then become part of the New Group of World Servers.
Knowledge, awareness, and intentional use of this activity of Light (as carriers and radiators of Light) is what accelerates our evolution, and in turn, the evolution of all the kingdoms on Earth of which we are the stewards. This Work is humanity’s task, purpose and our Divine Work.
In Libra we have the Light that moves to rest. This is the light that moves here and there between two polarities, first in search of information and experiences, and later to bring about a point of knowledgeable balance. A choice (to radiate or not) is thus made in Libra.
The Stage of Meditation in Libra
Of the five stages in meditation, Contemplation is the Third, or Libra, Stage in the Process of Meditation. As Contemplation is the Libra stage of meditation, Illumination is the Scorpio stage. Contemplation is an activity of the Soul in which the mind becomes quiet and the Soul "contemplates" the sensory information previously gathered (from the five senses in the six previous signs of Aries to Virgo). Contemplation is an activity of the "knower" (us, our minds) that identifies with what the Soul "knows." At this point we become "one" with the Soul, and a state of realization of oneness follows.
As a daily exercise this state of contemplation, leading to realization, can be practiced if we relate to others, not from the personality level (senses only, which judge, criticize, polarize, defend, compare, contrast, etc.), but, instead, from the Soul level (which looks for the good and knows each of us does the best we can based upon our level of development and understanding).
Working within the Soul’s unified realms includes the realization that each person is actually a Soul, with its own higher Self, perceptions, knowledge, and thought processes. By relating "Soul to Soul" (light to light) with everyone, we are able to recognize consciousness (spiritual source), which is always like our own, as it originates in the One Life of Spirit. In this state we "see" the inner causal (spiritual) reality behind form and are able to recognize and identify with it. We then see others within this identity also. At this point we have moved from outer form perception into perceiving the nature or qualities inherent within form and matter. This is Soul work and perception.
In the meditative process called Contemplation, "We endeavor to receive into the brain what the Soul itself perceives as It looks outward upon (with) the new fields of perception." Prior to this stage, the Soul has identified with what it perceives. But in this stage (of Contemplation in Libra), the Soul, instead of identifying with form, is in the act of contemplating form and matter. And, for the Soul, this becomes a revelation! Then, what is revealed to the Soul, becomes a revelation for us, as well.
